The core aim of The Little Orchestra is to create a welcoming and inspiring space for the enjoyment and discovery of great classical music.
We put on events in alternative venues, transformed for the occasion with beautiful lighting and design to reflect the stories and inspirations surrounding the music we are performing. Our events begin with the opportunity to unwind over a drink (or a cocktail…) and have a bite to eat from our themed pop-up menu. At the heart of the evening is an intimate concert with an orchestra (and occasionally a choir too) of talented professional musicians who you can almost reach out and touch, comfy sofas for those looking for a real treat, and a curated journey through the music and stories surrounding it, led by our compering conductor Nicholas Little. The goal, to transport you. There’s then a chance to relax further into the evening with more socialising, food and drink, and the opportunity to mix and mingle with the players and conductor.
What to expect
Arrive and unwind
Our evenings begin in one of our specially selected venues across London, beautifully transformed for each occasion to reflect the music being played. As you acclimatise to the magical surroundings, you can sample the carefully crafted menu from our chefs and unwind with a drink. Then, it’s time to pick a seat, settle into a sofa or even grab a front cushion for the main event…
Hear more, feel more, be transported
The concert
Be transported
Storytelling is at the heart of what we do. Sit back and be transported as our conductor – Nicholas Little – reveals the fascinating lives of the people behind the music, along with things to listen out for. Regardless of how much (or little!) you know about what’s being played, our uniquely intimate concerts are designed to give you an easy and enjoyable way in.
Our events feature some of the best young orchestral players that the UK has to offer. Our musicians have performed with many of the most prestigious orchestras in the country, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hallé in Manchester, but only with The Little Orchestra can you listen to them from the comfort of a floor cushion or sofa!
The afterparty
Mix and Mingle
At a normal concert, the evening usually ends once the final note has been played. Not here! With the bar now offering ingenious bespoke cocktails, we invite you to join us for a soirée featuring even more music (the details of which will sometimes surprise you…) and a chance to have a chat with our conductor and the musicians.
